Photography, perhaps more than any other medium, seems inextricably linked to an increasingly complex

modern world constantly unfolding in new and unexpected ways. Its ability to capture our cultural

changes, the environments we inhabit, and the thoughts we keep play a vital role in giving us greater

insights into our world and ourselves. The 2012 Center Forward exhibition explores our complex world.

The jurying process for Center Forward 2012 was done as collaboration between Ann Jastrab and

Hamidah Glasgow. Ann is the Gallery Director at RayKo Photo Center located in the SOMA arts district in

San Francisco and Hamidah is the Executive Director at The Center for Fine Art Photography. Both

galleries endeavor to promote the art of photography.
